Odeon Anglia

This 1960's Ford Anglia van was in the Bradford Urban Garden on Saturday.  The owner is a bit of a Ford Anglia fan as he also owns two Anglia cars, he is also an Odeon Cinema fan and is keen to see the building saved from demolition.  The posters draw attention to the plight of the cinema and urge people to vote for Odeon supporting candidates in the local council elections.

Petrol Cans - Otley Vintage Transport Etravaganza

People collect some unusual things, petrol cans for example, and if you look closely at these cans each one has had a label attached to it with its year of manufacture. I don't collect anything myself, but if I did it would probably be miniature 35mm cameras from the 70's and 8o's, like the Olympus XA, Rollei and Minox models. I wouldn't want to pay a lot of money for them, and I wouldn't expect them to be worth a great deal in the future, but I think I would enjoy just collecting them. The collectors of petrol cans would probably regard my hobby as 'unusual', but would understand, I think, why I was doing it.

Burley-In-Wharfedale Classic Car Show

I spent an enjoyable morning at the Burley-in-Wharfedale Classic Car Show on Sunday. I had intended to post a picture of a tractor which had been built at the International Harvesters factory in Bradford but thought that these Volkswagen camper vans were more interesting. I thought I had seen the green and white van at the Festival of Vintage in York a couple of months ago, the owner confirmed that it was the same van and that he also owned the red van. The red van is a 1970 model and is left hand drive as it was imported from America before being restored. The green van is older and was also imported from America before being restored and I believe is a type 1 as it has a split windscreen. Both vans are available for wedding hire if you fancy travelling to church in something a bit different!

Bradford Classic Car Event

It was the annual Bradford Classic Car Event in Centenary Square on Saturday. There were quite a few exotic cars on display including a Jaguar XJ13, the only one ever built, but I think these mini cars are more my cup of tea.
