Jake & Elwood - Otley Stretcher Race
This charity event, held yesterday in the centre of Otley was immense fun for participants and spectators alike. Teams of stretcher bearers carrying a patient followed a route through the town centre, stopping off at each pub along the way (and there are a lot of pubs in the centre of Otley) to down a quick drink. It was all good fun and raised money for Cancer Research. The team in the picture were, I think, the only family to enter the race and were being directed to the next pub by a helpful member of the public.

Never heard of this before. Was it fun for the ones on the stretchers? Sounds like it might get progressively more dangerous with each pub.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we hace charity events like this one where I live. I hope it is effective!
ReplyDeleteVery cool image Marin, perfect in B&W.
ReplyDeletethats me and my friend. for the record it isnt that fun since you have to go about 20 pubs in about 1/2 an hour to an hour, drinking 3 drinks between your group. afterwards youll have drank so much you may vomit (i almost did).
