Sunsplash - Bradford Urban Garden

I went along to the first Bradford Sunsplash event on Sunday afternoon which was held in the Bradford Urban Garden. Singers and bands kept the crowd entertained throughout the afternoon with a programme of mainly reggae based music. The aim of the event was to lift community spirit and to promote Bradford in a more positive light, which I would say is what it succeeded in doing admirably.

Skyride 2011

I went along to the second Bradfiord Skyride Event today. A four mile route between Peel Park and the Little Germany area of Bradford town centre was closed to traffic for most of the day. The aim of this family friendly event is to increase the number of people cycling in the UK by one million by the year 2013. The picture shows some of the young participants on the start line in Peel Park. Was the event a success? Well the youngsters certainly enjoyed it, I enjoyed it, (I took my folding bike along with the intention of doing one lap and ended up doing four laps) so yes, I would say it was a success!
