Monolith - BD is Lit

Monolith, part of BD is Lit, a two day festival of light and sound in the city centre.  The huge monolith represents our connection with screens, constantly changing, and then suddenly disappearing,  It's apparently inspired by the monolith in filmmaker Stanley Kubrick's film 2001 a space odyssey, which strangely enough I saw when it came out at the Odeon Cinema which is now the Bradford Live building in the background of the picture.

Mirror Pool and Bradford Live

Bradford Live from the Mirror Pool.  The fountains are currently operating only part of the day, between eleven in the morning and five thirty in the afternoon I believe, it's to help conserve water due to the unusually dry summer.  The central fountain doesn't look much here but it is capable of reaching a height of over one hundred feet.  Bradford Live is a newly opened live music venue.
