Bradford Festival 2013

It was an impressive start to the Bradford Festival weekend on Friday evening with an open air evening of choral and song courtesy of the Bradford Festival Choral Society, Bradford Catholic Youth Choir and Skipton Building Society Camerata.  Pictured is the musical director of the Bradford Choral Society, Thomas Leech.

Saltaire Festival - Fire Eater

There was plenty of entertainment for the crowds on the final day of the Saltaire Festival. This act was definitely popular with the spectators, as you can see it involves fire which always seems to be a big hit with the youngsters (and me), I think I may have been a little bit too close for some of the pictures though, I could actually feel the heat from the flames.

Pontefract Liquorice Festival

I visited the West Yorkshire market town of Ponterfract earlier today. The town lies about twenty five miles East of Bradford and is famous for the growing and production of liquorice, it also holds an annual Liquorice Festival. These two gentlemen were out on the street selling the very latest high technology information storage devices to the general public. I was quite impressed with their sales patter, but came away without buying anything.

Illumination of Undercliffe Cemetery

I went along to Undercliffe Cemetery last night to see a lighting installation by drama student Emily Kecic. The evening started with a short talk on the history of the cemetery followed by an outdoor performance of the Mozart Requiem by the Bradford Festival Choral Society. Areas of the cemetery were floodlit with various coloured spotlights, people were encouraged to explore and take photographs, and judging by the large number of people that attended the event I would say that it was a great success.
