Pauline, On The Leeds-Liverpool Canal
Not the usual vessel on the Leeds Liverpool canal these days, it's a much wider boat (and much older). The owner had a very brief chat with me and told me that the boat was one hundred and fifty seven years old, it was built for a canal the width of the Leeds/Liverpool, it would have been horse drawn on the canal and was originally built with a fold down mast and sail enabling its use on rivers. It was built in the same year as the famous tea clipper Cutty Sark and is pictured here at Dobson Locks, Apperley Bridge heading towards Leeds.
